- Back in August last year, a two-hour sampling of all 9 brands of
- 4-head, Hi-Fi VCRs at a Good Guys store showed (to the amazement of
- even the two salesdroids who set up the demos) that two brands came
- up very much ahead of all the others: Fisher and JVC. Both showed
- no "shake, tremble or quiver" and the still-image frozen onscreen
- was clear and sharp. I wound up buying the Fisher, not because it
- was better, but for the reason that it was priced $75 lesser.
-
- You could try doing the same thing (a demo, I mean). You will be
- surprised that there's a lot of salespeople out there who will go
- out of their way to do this for you. The two guys who helped me
- actually enjoyed the demo themselves. They said that they never
- get a comparison demo at all; what they get is a demo of each new
- brand that comes in. But how this new gadget compares to others
- in their shelves is something they have no actual way of knowing.
