  41. Back in August last year, a two-hour sampling of all 9 brands of
  42. 4-head, Hi-Fi VCRs at a Good Guys store showed (to the amazement of
  43. even the two salesdroids who set up the demos) that two brands came
  44. up very much ahead of all the others:  Fisher and JVC.  Both showed
  45. no "shake, tremble or quiver" and the still-image frozen onscreen
  46. was clear and sharp.  I wound up buying the Fisher, not because it
  47. was better, but for the reason that it was priced $75 lesser.

  49. You could try doing the same thing (a demo, I mean).  You will be
  50. surprised that there's a lot of salespeople out there who will go
  51. out of their way to do this for you.  The two guys who helped me
  52. actually enjoyed the demo themselves.  They said that they never
  53. get a comparison demo at all; what they get is a demo of each new
  54. brand that comes in.  But how this new gadget compares to others
  55. in their shelves is something they have no actual way of knowing.
