- I doubt this, since it happens on every tape, even those that cause no
- problems on other VCRs. Also, there is no visual evidence of dropouts.

- BTW, I posted about my problems with the 696 a few weeks ago, and have since
- exchanged it for another one. The new one also has the same problem.
- Personally, I think this is unacceptable for a supposedly Hifi VCR, but
- the return/exchange period at my store has expired. So now, I'm basically
- stuck with a defective VCR. At least the 90-day warranty is still in effect,
- but god only knows how much shipping and handling will cost me.

- Given the number of people I have seen on the net who have had the same
- problem with the SLV696HF, I would hope that Sony is catching flak for
- selling a VCR with such a fault. I will certainly add to it with
- a phone call and/or letter. Will any of you with similar experiences do the
- same?
