  23. I doubt this, since it happens on every tape, even those that cause no
  24. problems on other VCRs. Also, there is no visual evidence of dropouts.

  26. BTW, I posted about my problems with the 696 a few weeks ago, and have since
  27. exchanged it for another one. The new one also has the same problem.
  28. Personally, I think this is unacceptable for a supposedly Hifi VCR, but 
  29. the return/exchange period at my store has expired. So now, I'm basically
  30. stuck with a defective VCR. At least the 90-day warranty is still in effect, 
  31. but god only knows how much shipping and handling will cost me.

  33. Given the number of people I have seen on the net who have had the same
  34. problem with the SLV696HF, I would hope that Sony is catching flak for 
  35. selling a VCR with such a fault. I will certainly add to it with
  36. a phone call and/or letter. Will any of you with similar experiences do the
  37. same?
