- I guess you're talking about being in the Dolby Pro-Logic Surround
- mode. You're right about the 1000. The Dolby chip in there was
- analog, and thus you were limited to flat frequency response
- when in Dolby.
-
- In the 2000, the Dolby processing is done digitally, and the
- other digital signal processing can be applied to dolby, including
- compression/expansion. The Pro-logic decoder can be employed
- in surround modes 8 and 9 also on the 2000.
-
- Additionally, on the 2000, you can set three different EQ curves,
- Front Pair, Front Center, and Rear, to allow you to match
- different speakers, and much better match your room.
-
- I just picked up my 2000 last night, but haven't hooked it up
- yet, as I must go through catalogging the snake pit of cables
- already hooked up to my existing 1000 which I will be disconnecting.
-
- I'm not looking forward to rewiring, but really want to hear the
- new unit. One drawback to the 2000 is that I haven't been able
- to find a front panel mute button, which is one of the front panel
- controls I probably used the most on the 1000.
-
- Question:
-
- Does anyone know if the 2000 has a self-demonstration mode like
- the 1000 had? I remember that the mode on the 1000 was not
- mentioned in the user's manual, and that I found out about it
- in an "Audio" or "Stereo Review" article on the original unit.
