- always call first to get up-to-the-minute reports (see below).

-
- anything you can think of (that you would ordinarily do in Yosemite), except
- back country hikes without snowshoes. Also, some of the trails may be closed
- due to snow and ice.

-
- can't think of why any part of it would be closed unless there was a big
- storm or other weather anomaly. Highway 120 over Tioga pass may still be
- closed then. Call first if you are planning to drive there - you can get to
- the valley and Badger pass from the West without taking Tioga pass.

-
- Bring your camera and warm clothes (escpecially socks and gloves - snow boots
- or similar are also very handy - the valley floor will almost definitely be
- clear of snow, but higher elevations will still have some).

-
- I went skiing there 3 years ago during spring break (late March), which was
- during a drought year, and there was plenty of snow to ski although the lifts
- had closed the day before. Fortunately, we were cross country skiing and
- were able to slowly trudge up the bunny slopes, ski around the top for a
- little while and zoom on down to the bottom to repeat the process - lots of
- fun and the weather was quite warm that day. Judging by the amount of snow
- that is up there now (I was there yesterday, and the walls of snow on the
- side of the road that had piled up from the snowplow were taller than my car.
- I felt like a rat running through a maze), there should still be lots of snow
- left in March and I bet Badger Pass will still be in full swing (read: get
- there as early as possible in the day - the parking often fills up and you
- can't drive up there until someone leaves, a real bummer).
-
- Your best bet whenever driving up to Yosemite or any Sierra destination is to
- call ahead and get the latest info. I could tell you everything about my
- previous trips and it all could be different for you in March. Call
- 1-209-555-1212 (long distance information) and ask for the number for
- Yosemite information. You can get everything from road and skiing conditions
- to park accommodations. Everyone is very helpful and you should have a
- blast!
