One place I found quite impressive is Epidaurus... It has a huge circular
theater that was built during those historical years and is still in use today.
A pin dropped in the center stage can be heard all the way to the top !!! I
guess it is acoustically "perfect" in that sense... This is one place I will
always go back to...
Also, if you are planning on taking tours, the Greek National Tourist agency
have a bunch (a lot of other tour agencies have the same) of tours... I took
a Classical Tour (goes to Delphi, Naphlio, Corinth Canal, etc) but I was
fortunate to have a great tour guide - her name is Roula - and man, she brought
everything she talked about to life ! If you take this tour, make sure you have
her as a tour guide... Also, shop around for prices (the same tours on the dif.
agencies vary quite a bit in prices and some places, like hotels, do give
discounts - if you ask for it)...
Take the time to explore Athens... I decided to get "lost" and leave the touristarea (by walking around) and I ended up in this street that sells cheese - BIG
cheeses (as tall and wide as medium-sized people)!!! They also have huge barrel for marinating olives...
I strongly suggest learning a few Greek phrases (Good Morning, Thank You, How
Much, etc.) - basic stuff... You'd be surprised how far you'd get with this and
the Greeks seem to appreciate people who take time to learn their language...
