- I rely on the Blue Guides. The one for France is particularly good.
- They do not list hotels or restaurants, but are excellent for the
- historical background of places and for things to see in every town in
- the country. They work particularly well in conjunction with the
- Michelin Red Guides.
-
- But, if you aren't interested in history and art and that sort of
- thing, and just want to find out about the sights, get the Michelin
- Green Guides.
-
- The Blue Guides are quite expensive, but they are the sort of thing
- you keep, although I have occasionally found them in used book stores.
- We had a wonderful trip in southwestern England once following
- suggestions from the Blue Guide to England, and we've gone to several
- places in France than we never would have thought about if we hadn't
- read about them in the Blue Guide to France. Just my two cents worth.
