- I have a similar problem, though my eyesight is good enough that I
- can survive without glasses. However, skiing without glasses can be
- difficult as you can't see the terrain well enough to find the ruts
- and bumps. I used to try the goggles over glasses but with the wet
- snow we get here in Oregon, I was constantly fogged up (not to mention
- the pain of glasses smashing into your temples all day long.)
-
- Last year I found the solution. Bolle makes a goggle that takes an
- insert into which you put perscription lenses. Go to your local
- optometist or ophthalmologiest that carries Bolle lenses and ask to
- see their catalog. If you try and discribe what you want, they will
- look at you like your from another planet and try and sell you perscription
- goggles like many basketball players wear (hardly suitable for a real
- sport like skiing).
-
- The insert looks like the face of a pair of plastic frames with stays
- on the top to seat it in the goggle. Note the model number of the
- goggles. If you buy it there, it will cost a ton. You can shop around
- and get the bolle goggle for much less. NOTE: not all Bolle goggles
- take the insert, so don't buy the wrong ones. The insert is cheap.
- I only paid 12 bucks. I'm sure you know how expensive lenses are!
- I just got the cheapest lenses around. No scratch protection, no
- tinting etc...
-
- They are not perfect. I had some fogging occur on wet days, but it wasn't
- horrible. Of course, if you do a face plant, you will probably have to
- go and dry out the equipment. I put some anti-fog solution on the lenses
- and the goggles before each use.
