-
- I have never skied this mountain before but I have heard lots of
- good things about it. I do have the trail map in front of me. There
- are basically two mountains, Red mountain and Granite mountain.
- Granite mountain is accessed by a 9000 ft double chair which gives
- you 2800 ft of vertical. This is the side with all the challenging
- runs.

-
- Well...one run is listed as a 5 black diamond run (called Wherever!
- - You're Lost), two are four black diamond runs and one is a three
- black diamond run. Of course there are also the usual assortment
- of double and single black diamond runs. Red Mountain was selected
- as having some of the best steeps by readers of a Canadian ski
- magazine (I forget which one)
-
- Quoting from their brochure -
-
- "Be aware and ski with care. Red Mountain is a beautiful yet rugged
- mountain setting. The extreme runs are unmarked. Please hire one
- of our qualified guides when learning new areas of the mountain.
- Ski in pairs and know where your partner is at all times."
-
- Challenging enough for ya? I read that this year they opened up a
- lot of the treed areas that only the locals used to know about.

- Just checking the paper, they have just had 16 cm of new snow. Snow
- depth is 162 cm (alpine) and 72 cm at the base. Temperature is
- -1. Central reservations is 1-800-663-0105 and the 24 hr snow phone
- is 1-604-362-5500 (from Spokane use 1-509-459-6000)
