- Well known Light Rail Transit proponent Fred Rogers presented
- President-elect Bill Clinton with a replica of the trolley car that plies
- the rails of the tiny town featured on the TV show "Mr. Rogers'
- Neighborhood".

- The presentation was made Tuesday during a live children's
- inauguration special on The Disney Channel.

- Mr. Clinton said that he was "honored" to receive the gift and went on
- to outline his administration's 15-point plan for improved transportation to
- the group of five- to ten-year-olds assembled for the special.

- Transportation Secretary-designate Federico Pena's press
- secretary-designate issued a statement later in the day that said "Any
- promises made during the campaign regarding transportation are being
- reviewed for viability at this time".
