- The south shore part of the station is sort of back in the dingy corners.
- There are signs posted but you'll have to look for them. The south shore
- splits off from the IC mainline at Kensington (115th? st.) and most trains
- stop there. For a real quick trip you could ride the south shore from
- randolph st. downtown to kensington and then catch an IC (Metra electric) train back
- downtown.
- For a longer trip I would recommend going to Michigan City IN. If my memory
- is correct, There are some resturants within walking distance as well as the
- conrail mainline. The best "interrurban" scenery is between south bend and
- Michigan City but the train frequency is less than over the portion closer to
- Chicago. All this info is from memory and may not be entirely accurate. Its
- been a while since I've rode the south shore.
