- I have been using a Celestron 500mm f5.6 cat lens for about 2.5 years.
- It seems very good to me..only hang up is that they never made a proper
- sun shade for it. It is very sharp and has excellent edge to edge
- illumination.
-
- I also have a Meade 97ER 1000mm lens which I use for very long range
- shooting. It is surprisingly good for such a slow optic..
-
- You have to remember that when you get into 500mm and longer lenses
- the magnification of the atmospheric conditions is a significant
- factor in image quality...don;t shoot on hazy days if you want clear
- sharp pictures..also turbulence caused by local temperature
- fluctuations becommes a major factor.
