- Well, first there's Angelica, she LOVES the vet. When I bring
- her in she likes to run around the room, play on the keyboards, and
- look out the windows. She even likes the Vet himself, she purrs! BUT
- if they need to take blood or hold her down for anything other than
- the usual tummy feel-look in the mouth-check the ears thing she will
- go NUTS! The vet I went to before this one would just hold her down,
- she would have seziures, poor thing, she was so scared. Dr. Askren
- can tell if she's getting upset and will either let her go back to me,
- or under the table for a few minutes or, if it's something important,
- like bloodwork, he will sedate her mildly (and for free) and do what
- needs to be done. She is wobbly for about an hour and then is just
- like normal. The only thing she doesn't like about the vet now is the
- thermometer guy, but who'd blame her.
- Now, Amos, you see is a different story. Amos wants to eat
- the vet and all the people that work for him. Sometimes he's not too
- hungry and only needs one tech to hold him. Other days he's starving
- and has to have two techs and the big leather gloves. The whole time
- everyone in the room is telling him what a nice kitty he is, and how
- big and strong he is, and how he has such good reflexes...Why, they've
- just never seen such a quick mauling... Amos tolerates it. I think
- he likes being told how awesome he is.
- So far they have never had to stay overnight so I'm not sure
- how that would work but from what I've seen of the place and the look
- of the pets being picked up I wouldn't flinch if I had to leave them.
- The staff also helps, they LOVE animals and are extremely friendly.
- Amos, who would take off my hand if I got it too close to his carrier
- will let the receptionists stick in a finger to scratch his nose!
- Well, I didn't mean to turn itno a commercial for my vet but I
- do love them and they are so good with my babies!
