You've got the point of the scene the wrong way round.  Clouseau wore
the guitar because *he* was embarrassed.  He loses it halfway through
(I can't remember how) and so spends the rest of the scene desperately
finding ways of concealing himself.  But of course all the dozens of
other nude bodies in the scene had to be censored by means of funny
camera angles and convenient obstacles, which to my mind somewhat
reduced the effectiveness of the joke.
