- Do you honestly think that legal business folks wouldn't do that if
- there weren't laws against that sort of thing? Any time there is a
- sellers market the prices go up. Fortunately there are laws
- protecting us from the prices going too high. Sellers of contraband,
- by their very nature, aren't as concerned with such laws considering
- the fact that what they are selling in the first place is highly
- illegal.
-
- Scummy business practices are a problem everywhere, not just in
- blackmarket commodities.
-
- Just how much is food worth to you? Would it be worth 5 times as much
- for you to eat if that's what it took? Would you start growing your own
- at that price? Or do you live in a city where you are *dependent* on
- someone else to get you your daily fix? How much would it be worth to
- you to drive to your favorite CO beach? What if gasoline were 10
- times as expensive, would it still be worth it? Those are examples of
- both a need and a desire.
-
- I won't deny that many drug dealers use very dirty business practices,
- but then so do many legal business people, some with full power of the
- law behind them. Telemarketers fer instances. Not sure which I'd
- rather have next door, a telemarketer or a drug dealer :-).
