- To my experience, there's a difference in the Skyline drive part worth
- noting. Skyline drive seems to be much more isolated from signs of
- civilization, there is a mile or two of intentionally undeveloped parkland
- on each side of the Skyline Drive. The Blue Ridge Parkway does also run right
- along the crest of the ridges, but it doesn't have the wilderness on both
- sides of it. There are parts of the Blue Ridge where farm fields back right
- up to the Parkway on both sides. One consequence, is I usually see *MANY*
- more deer on the Skyline Drive part. Depends on what you are looking for,
- both parts are real neat and worth riding!
-
- Another note, there are a couple of wilderness lodges on the Skyline Drive,
- that take reservations. They are also open a few weekends in the winter,
- which is really different - I've stayed at them in the winter, and I
- recommend it if you are looking for a neat get-a-way!
