- So living in the N'east has its winter weather - so I ski. It's as close to
- riding as I can get in winter, besides I like it. The last 3 years I have
- NASTAR'd at our local pimple of a mountain, Wachusett. NASTAR is kind of
- semi-Giant Slalom, semi slalom. Last night, a great revelation came to me -
-
- ... look through the corner (to the next flag on the course).
-
- I'd been concentrating on the corner itself and not setting up for the next
- corner, thereby drifting wide and having to cut way back in to make the next
- corner - not the best of lines to follow.
- So on my second (of two) runs, I decided to follow the MSF advice and
- whatta ya know! each corner was smooth, tight, no drifting, and I picked up
- .6 of a second!
-
- Summary: if you want to practice your look/lean/roll, NASTAR race!
-
- Seriously - looking through the corner as far as you can was proven to me
- so dramatically. Focusing on the distant point caused me to naturally aim for
- that point and not look at where the skis were going.
-
- I will be a better rider this year ...
