  14. This is a short note to new readers, letting them know that there is a
  15. list of Frequently Asked Questions (with answers :-) posted to this
  16. group every two weeks.  It attempts to answer basic questions such as
  17. "how do I get more information about railroad X," and "what should I
  18. buy if I'm just getting started."

  20. If the FAQ posting has expired from your site, you have three options
  21. for getting it before the next posting:

  23.     - look in the group news.answers for a posting with the
  24.       subject "rec.models.railroad Fortnightly FAQ"  Most sites
  25.       keep postings for a longer time in this group.
  26.  
  27.     - anonymous FTP from pit-manager.mit.edu, in the directory 
  28.       /pub/usenet/rec.models.railroad.  If you don't know how to
  29.       get something by anonymous FTP ask your local administrator
  30.       or friendly guru.

  32.     - sending mail to rjm@cs.brown.edu. NOTE: there is no
  33.       automation of the responses, so please do this only if you
  34.       can't wait and can't ftp.  I'll send you the file when I get
  35.       a chance, so it may not be immediately.

  38. effort to make people aware of the list without broadcasting it too often.
