- I forget where I got this...
-
- A Zen master was walking with a student in SE Asia. In the
- distance, about 200 yards away, they saw a hungry tiger
- running toward them. The student was frantic.
-
- "Master! Master!" he cried, "what will we do? We'll be eaten!"
-
- "Not to worry" the master replied calmly, with one hand upraised.
- He then proceeded to put on his running-sandals, with a
- calmness matching the slow dignity of the ancient tea ceremony.
-
- "Master! What are you doing?!? You can't outrun a tiger!!"
-
- And thus spake the master :
-
- "I don't have to outrun the tiger. I just have to outrun you."
