- There are (pause) 2 and a half katas in judo in which one is supposed to
- become proficient in atemi. They are:
-
- Kime no Kata. Self defence, with a little of the flavor
- of the armorclad samurai.
-
- Kodokan Goshin Jutsu. Self defence, with more wristlocks
- and "modern street" flavor. One is supposed to learn
- Kime no Kata as a groundwork for the Goshin Jutsu.
-
- Seiryoku Zenyo Kokumin Taiiku. This is the half. A
- physical education workout program invented by Kano.
- One strikes out in many directions as a form of exercise.
