  10. Just wondering:

  12. Recently I'd made it down to the Wizard's level, and was standing in the 
  13. center section.  Not feeling any great desire to take him on at this 
  14. point, I zapped a wand of polymorph at him.  To my surprise, it worked, 
  15. and he turned into a frost giant.  (One with the teleport intrinsic, 
  16. apparently, but hey.)  He vanished, I took out the other monsters 
  17. posthaste, and rushed forward for my reward.

  19. To my dismay, I discovered that the Amulet of Yendor had also been 
  20. polymorphed into...
  21.  
  22. An amulet of change.

  24. Chagrined, I took off, ran into the Wizard/giant again, and slew him.  At 
  25. this point I decided I was sick of the character anyway, gave up, and 
  26. started over with a knight who _did_ eventually win.

  28. My question is this: Has this ever happened to anyone else?  And, if so, 
  29. did the Amulet come back when the Wizard reincarnated himself, or were you 
  30. stuck?
