  12. Well, I've almost touched the top of Class C, and will soon
  13. be Class B.  But how could I be wrong?  Well, my last provisional
  14. game was one of the three I thought would put me there.
  15.    Beating a 7XX rated (10 year old) as my 20th game doesn't make the
  16. thing go down, does it? I hope not.  Excerpt follows:
  17.     1.e4  e6 <--- this got him thinking. Didn't move the pawn up 2,
  18.  like I was supposed to!
  19.     2.c3? d5 <--- I dunno, what do you think it is?
  20.     3 Qa4 +  Argh! This kid is good!  3..Bd7  etc. Black wins.
  21.  I feel, after this (the results get uglier) that I might not deserve
  22. changing classes so quickly, now.  My next two games were against 
  23. approximately B-C ish players, I didn't jot down their numbers.
  24.  My question is basically: Does a C-player about to be B'd get it if
  25. one of the three games that could bump him up is still provisional, and
  26. 400+700 looks to me to bring it down a little. (?)
  27.     Additional Excerpt:
  28.     Last of three rounds:  I have been wearing my "Latvian Pride"
  29. sweatshirt shamelessly.  I get black and grin at my opponent. Do you
  30. feel lucky?  He does, so uses his K-pawn.  
  31.     Aha! Faked you out! I've been working on the French! 1.e4 e6
  32. 2.d4 d5 3.e5 c5 4.c3 Qc7 (?!)   and since this is mysterious, and I am
  33. now smirking, he believes I know what I am doing.  This is the wrong 
  34. square, sure, but it was close enough at the time.  N-e7-f5 was accomplished,
  35. and I got the tempo back sort of. Later, when I looked like I was losing, I
  36. offered a draw.  This made him think he had a quicker win than he really
  37. had, so blew it.  *I don't deserve it!* grin, grin, grin. Same Bishop
  38. endgame won by Black!
