  13. I was in Tahoe from 1/16 - 1/20.  Here's the scoop:

  15. The Horizon hotel closed its poker room on Wednesday.  This leaves only 2 
  16. casinos in Tahoe with poker rooms (Harrah's & Harvey's).  
  17.  
  18. <I was told that only 3 had them, so I am assuming that the small ones 
  19. Lakeside & Nugget don't have poker rooms or they were to small to be 
  20. included -- I only checked Harrah's, Harvey's, Horizon, Caesars, & Bill's>
  21.  
  22. My last poker game was Tuesday night (7-9PM) and they only had one game 
  23. going (7-stud).  All but 2 seats housed by locals.  By comparison, Harvey's 
  24. had a 7-stud game going before 8AM.

  26. Anyway, word has it that if the poker gaming doesn't get any better, the 
  27. other poker rooms will close as well.

  29. Other items:
  30.    I didn't play BJ.
  31.    I don't play slots, but this time I made an exception.
  32.       As of Wed morn:  Megabucks was around    $3  M
  33.                        Quartermania was around $1.3M
  34.                        Nevada Nickels was above $750K (!?)
  35.       I played some of those Nickels.  
  36.     
  37. Other non-gaming items:
  38.     I stayed at a motel (Best Tahoe West $60/night for 3 on Sun & Holiday,
  39.                                          $50/night for 3 mid week).  
  40.       Nice room, no view 2-3 blocks to Casinos & Lake, in CA.
  41.     Ate at Horizon mostly (Josh's midweek -- 2 big Lobster tails for $10), 
  42.       but did eat breakfast buffets at Harvey's, Horizon, & Caesars (in 
  43.       order of preference)
  44.     Snow at Heavenly Valley was great for skiing.  Heavenly, Sierra Ski 
  45.       Ranch, Kirkwood -- all run shuttle busses by the motels to pick up 
  46.       skiers.  (I'm sure that Squaw Valley would do if the busses could 
  47.       have gotten through).
