- Thanks Mary, for correcting my faulty genetics. Actually I was a little
- more right than I thought. This was the actual breeding that I did to
- produce my current mare. Black was not a genetic factor, since there
- are no blacks as far back as I can find on either pedigree. Ditto for
- brown, that's not very often found in Arabs. The reference to 'known
- to produce greys, bays, and chestnuts', refers to the grey mare. In fact,
- at one time, I owned a bay daughter of hers.
- And I did get a chestnut filly out of the breeding. So, if black and brown
- are ruled out, approximately 25% chance of chestnut is in 'the ball park.'
