- Hi all!
-
- I am Joanne Walton, and I live in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. I work here
- at NASA Lewis Research Center in the Space Electronics Division as an
- Electrical Engineer. My job deals with building prototype satellites and
- satellite earth stations.
-
- I started riding when I was 12, after many years of begging my parents to
- let me ride. I started off at a local livery stable, then moved on to
- taking hunt seat lessons at a private barn. I leased several horses before
- I finally got my own when I was 15. I showed the local 4H and OPHA
- circuit until my sophmore year in college. At that time I ran out of time
- for horses and sold my horse. I graduated in 1988 with my BS in Computer
- Science and then decided I didn't like to program (NOT good when you are a
- CS major)! I stayed in school and graduated, again, in 1990 with my MS in
- Electrical Engineering. About 6 mos after graduating I started taking
- lessons again, and the next summer I half-leased a little appy mare. At
- the end of the summer, Sept of 1991, I decided to take the plunge again and
- bought my horse Cadillac. He is a 7yo chestnut QH. He was pretty much
- untrained when i got him, so I've spent the last year teaching him to go on
- the bit, get his canter leads, etc... I've been VERY pleased with his
- progress, we went to a few schooling shows last year and hope to go to some
- bigger shows this year.
-
- I'm 28 now and am really enjoying my free time now that i am done with
- school. I love to trail ride and since I board next to a park I have
- plenty of trails. I'm not as serious about showing as I used to be, which
- is great because it helps me stay out of the politics, nastyness and all-
- around sillyness that goes along with the local hunter circuit here.
-
- I enjoy reading rec.eq and even ran across one of my old riding buddies
- from about 10 yrs ago, Sonja Paetzel! So come on Sonja, where's your bio?
-
- Joanne and Cadillac (who is finally healthy, of course now his owner is
- sick!)
