  10. I think its now my turn to join the Bio crowd ...

  12. I am Lutz Massonne, age 35, male, German.
  13. Currently I work at the European Space Operations Center at Darmstadt
  14. on the ground control of the European Space Agency's Earth observation
  15. satellites.
  16. I have studied Physics at Bochum and Heidelberg university and did my
  17. doctoral thesis on the physics of comet Halley's dust.

  19. I never was horse related in any way until I met my then and present partner
  20. in my 2nd year at university. She was riding already for years, and
  21. I started to watch her riding from the rider's pub :-) .

  23. When we moved to the Darmstadt region, she had stopped riding for some years
  24. due to workload and wanted to start up again.
  25. I for myself wanted to do some sportive activity also and decidied to give it
  26. a try. We looked at several stables in the region and settled for
  27. Pfungstadt as the horses and the instructor there made the best impression.

  29. At her first lesson Heike (my partner) was given the "nightmare horse" of
  30. the riding school, an old guy named Distrikt, who really played with her,
  31. having not been riding for years.
  32. I myself took up lunge lessons on the same old Distrikt, a horse
  33. noone had ever called " smooth to sit" ...
  34.  
  35. Now, five years later, I am the proud owner of Distrikt (and I call him
  36. smooth to sit, at least after 45 minutes of warm-up).
  37. He is now 18 years old, a brown warmblood gelding, of Brandenburg
  38. or Mecklenburg breed. We are doing mainly dressage and trail riding.

  40. He still teaches me how to give the proper aids and seems to get
  41. younger each year. But this is supposed to be MY bio and not his ...
