- Being much nearer to Russia here in Germany than you over there in the US :-)
- (apart from the Alaska people), I have in fact seen several of them.
-
- The breed is the third variety of the Thoroughbred, not at all
- linked to the Arabian or Anglo-Arabian TB.
- They are bred on the steppes of inner Asia (Kazakhstan, I believe)
- and their most prominent feature is the metallic gleam of their coat.
-
- Four years ago a group of them made an endurance ride from Moscow (Russia)
- to Essen in Germany to participate at the bi-yearly horse fair ("Equitana").
-
- Also, in a village near Darmstadt (where I am posting from) there is a
- horse importer who imports Russian horses. His main breeds are
- Karbadine, Russian Trakehner and Latvian horses, but now and then
- an Achal-Teke is among the batch.
-
- They look very slim and fast and, as far as I have heard, become very attached
- to their owners as they are bred in close connection to humans.
-
- Regards, Lutz
