- Yes, definitely remove the nut first. :-)

- The inside of the crank should be threaded as well, so that a crank-removal
- tool can be screwed in. This has a bolt inside it which is then turned to
- bear on the end of the crank shaft (or axle), in effect "pushing" the crank
- off rather than "pulling" it.
