- That's more than 12 1/16" instead of 12". It means the chain has
- "stretched". That is, the accumulated wear in the bushings and pins
- in the links of the chain has put enough slack into the whole chain
- that is apparently longer. This accumulated wear puts the links out
- of synch with the chainwheels and cogs and will wear them, too.
