- Hi. My suntour XC-Pro equipped mountain bike suffers from
- (in my opinion) rather poor shifting.
-
- Specifically the "best" adjustment of the cable barrel adjuster still
- makes shifting into the smallest two cogs slow and sometimes even incomplete,
- the chain slips in a half-shifted position. Shifting into the largest two
- cogs is also slow and occasionally incomplete (requiring overshifting).
-
- It is almost as if the cluster spacing isn't optimal for the shifting
- distance of the mech. My "best" adjustment optimises shifting for the
- middle of the range.
-
- The cluster is a 13-28 suntour winner pro which the shop assures me is
- correctly matched with the shifter. I don't know what the chain is. It is
- original MB-1 equipment and again, i am assured by the shop that it's
- fine for the suntour transmission.
-
- What is peoples experience of this group? Is there a chain which is known
- to work well with it?
-
- All comments appreciated---except those saying "buy XTR".
