- I have an LLBean Blue Ridge Camping Hammock that I absolutely love. It has
- a solid nylon bottom (fabric, not mesh) with a no-see-um top and a nylon
- rainfly. It's just like a tent in that when you're zipped in you're totally
- isolated from dem-damn-bugs!!! And it is ROOMY. It provides excellent
- stability and support (it doesn't swing more than 5 times after you get in
- it, if you're looking for a hammock to swing in the breeze with, this is not
- it) And if you string it tight you'll hardly know you're off the ground.
- The rain-fly really covers the hammock well and provides good protection.
-
- But the best thing of all is that you will never have to search for a level,
- root and rock free camp site again. All you need is two mature trees about
- 10-15 feet apart. And it is the best way to go if you want to go further
- with minimum impact, you don't crush any vegetation with your tent or body
- as you sleep.
-
- The hammock weighs about 4 lbs. and packs to be about the size of
- summer-weight sleeping bag.
-
- I hated hammocks until I fell in love with this one.
