- this is no garbage... the 16v engines have little power until they really start
- to spin. at 4400 rpm the butterfly gate opens up and those beautiful intake
- runners finally get to do something. then, the power whooshes up and you get
- some nice acceleration. the gti is geared higher so that you get some power
- wherever you are (which is usually higher than normal, thanks to vw.) also,

- 16v engines are like this, they develop power pretty late in the curve.
