  31. this is no garbage... the 16v engines have little power until they really start
  32. to spin. at 4400 rpm the butterfly gate opens up and those beautiful  intake
  33. runners finally get to do something. then, the power whooshes up and you get
  34. some nice acceleration. the gti is geared higher so that you get some power
  35. wherever you are (which is usually higher than normal, thanks to vw.) also,
  36. most
  37. 16v engines are like this, they develop power pretty late in the curve.

  39. name a few other cars that rev at 4000 at 70mph in 5th gear....
