- The three wheel stance is a design feature of VW's. I remember some
- time ago reading a road and track article about VW's belief it enhances
- cornering stability. I don't think that 4th wheel makes much of a
- difference in most FWD cars anyway. Even CRX's come very close to lifting
- that wheel. It looks more like it's dragging around the turn than actually
- providing grip. Plus, under heavy breaking that wheel wouldn't provide much
- stopping force even if it was in contact with the ground.

- Even with only 3 wheels the GTi's can hold their own against the
- competition. I'd see what people say about the new GTi's before going to a
- porsche. The new corrado is generally liked by car mags yet it lifts the
- inside rear wheel too and Car and Driver ranked it rather high in a
- comparision test.
