- I just got back from Europe, and yes- the Golf/Vento (Jetta here) can
- be bought with a 1.9l turbodiesel version. The Vento comes in CL,GL,GT,
- and VR6 gasoline models (all except the VR6 have 2.0l 115HP engines),
- and a GTD model with the turbodiesel (75HP@4200 rpm). The Golf has
- more variety, and you can get a 1.4l (60hp), 1.8l (75 and 90HP), 2.0l
- 8V (115HP), 2.0l 16V(150HP), and the VR6(174HP). The Golf GTD comes
- with the 1.9l turbodiesel.

- I don't have any opinions on this. But from what I hear, they are better,
- and are very very popular in Europe, also because diesel fuel is so much cheaper
- there than gasoline. So the long term costs seem to be much less.
