- Wrong. The "60" means that the tire's sidewall height is 60% of
- its sidewall cross-section. If you increase the cross-section from
- 195 mm to 205 mm (i.e. by 10 mm), you increase its height by 6 mm.
- This makes a 12 mm (nearly half an inch) difference in the tire's
- diameter. If you go from 195/60 to 205/55, the height actually
- decreases by a little over 4 mm, or about 8.5 mm (one third of an inch)
- in total. Neither a 205/60R15 nor a 205/55R15 is a perfect match for
- the 195/60R15-calibrated speedo, but the lower-profile tire is closer.
