- i learned how to drive on a '66 monte carlo... no, this *isn't* a
- chevy! it was named in honor of the saab rally team's success in the
- monte carlo rally, so they came by the name honestly.
- triple carbs were std. on this model; also oil injection. saabs were
- *so* rare in the '60s that we really felt we'd 'arrived' when we had
- to tell the pump jockeys *not* to add oil to the gas! [we also
- flashed our lights when we saw another saab]
- as i recall, '66s were mostly mustard yellow; '67s were mostly pea
- green -- saab's car operation was so small they only bought one color
- of paint each year.
- and there was only one dealer for all of new england, gaston andrey.
- i think he may have been the only one in the whole u.s. in the early
- '60s -- i know that when saab entered the u.s. market, they started
- here, then spread.
