  24. i learned how to drive on a '66 monte carlo...  no, this *isn't* a
  25. chevy!  it was named in honor of the saab rally team's success in the
  26. monte carlo rally, so they came by the name honestly.
  27. triple carbs were std. on this model; also oil injection.  saabs were
  28. *so* rare in the '60s that we really felt we'd 'arrived' when we had
  29. to tell the pump jockeys *not* to add oil to the gas!  [we also
  30. flashed our lights when we saw another saab]
  31. as i recall, '66s were mostly mustard yellow; '67s were mostly pea
  32. green -- saab's car operation was so small they only bought one color
  33. of paint each year.
  34. and there was only one dealer for all of new england, gaston andrey.
  35. i think he may have been the only one in the whole u.s. in the early
  36. '60s -- i know that when saab entered the u.s. market, they started
  37. here, then spread.
