  15. A year ago when I auditioned many speakers and chose the Snell Type B, they
  16. were very controversial in the audio magazines.  R. Greene from the Absolute
  17. Sound loved them, while Stereophile said they were good but seriously flawed
  18. of auditioning various speakers, I chose the Snell B speakers because they
  19. provided me with the most satisfying emotional responses to the music that
  20. I love (whether classical, instrumental or vocal music, jazz, or rock).
  21. They also sounded to me more like actual live music sounds than other
  22. speakers did.  In constrast to most speakers, they were not too bright (with
  23. an apparently hyped-up treble), and they were capable of reproducing bass
  24. at lower frequencies than most speakers.
  25.    After a year, I can report that I am VERY happy I got the Snell Bs.  In
  26. fact, I don't see why anyone would buy another speaker in this price range 
  27. (including those costing $2000-$3000 more per pair than the Bs).  I have
  28. heard, for extended periods, other speakers with outstanding reviews, like
  29. the Pro-Ac Twos and Threes, during the past year.  And every time I hear 
  30. these other speakers play music that I am familiar with and that I have 
  31. heard on my own system, I prefer my Snell Bs.  (The ProAc Threes are better
  32. than my Bs at soundstaging, thoug, although that may be due to my very small
  33. listening room.)  Even in my small room, the B's are tremendous.  (No, I 
  34. don't have any connection with the company.  I just love these speakers.)
  35. FYI, I use a Counterpoint 5000 preamp and Counterpoint 220 amp, lapis
  36. interconnects, and the B's are bi-wired with Audioquest jade and clear (with
  37. the clear on the bass path).  At this point, all I need is more well-recorded
  38. music.
