  11. A friend of mind is looking for some answers to the following question:

  13. If I found a use for a product that is different than it is presently
  14. being sold for, how can I make money off of my idea and be legal?
  15.     
  16.         1) How do I contact the company and inform them of this new
  17.            packaging concept/product usage and protect my idea?
  18.  
  19.         2) Can I repackage the item and sell it?
  20.  
  21.         3) Can I get a copyright/paten based on a new use for an
  22.            already existing item?   
  23.  
  24. Due to the nature of the idea, my friend wishes not to go into details of his
  25. idea.  Heck, I'm not even sure what it is.

  28. of a better board to post these questions please let me know.
