- One thing I've notcied about most job-sharing situations - the employees
- sharing the job are both considered to be "part-timers". Part-time
- workers generally don't get benefits, so, for the employer, this can be
- a financial benefit (but a bummer for the employee, of course).
- Consider that your employer pays 20-30% over & above your salary for you
- benefits, & you can see what kind of an advantage this can be to the
- company.

- If you don't need the benefits (for example, you're covered under your
- spouse's employer), and you can set up a partner to share the job, you
- may be able to negotiate with an employer to do job-sharing. It's
- working for my sister-in-law. She & another occupational therapist set
- up a job share while they were both pregnant with their first children.
- When they were ready to come back to work, the position was there. Now
- that they are having their second kids, I think they're re-examining,
- since neither of them feels up to handling 4 kids under the age of 3.
- But, it has worked out well for them.
