- Now that Bill Clinton is President, I noticed that my 9-year-old is
- taking a much greater interest in what goes on in Washington. I think
- having campaigned during the election (he was right beside me handing out
- brochures and buttons until the zero hour) gives him a sense of
- having worked hard for a cause with results.
-
- Also, part of his interest could be because there is a child in the
- White House for the first time in his life! It can be amusing to hear
- a youngster's spin on what he thinks the President should or shouldn't do,
- and some of it makes such wholesome sense, but it's still evident that
- he needs to pay attention in social studies:
-
- Chris: "Mom, why did Zoe Beard (sic) quit?"
- Mom, only half-paying attention: "Because she hired aliens."
- Chris: "?!?!?!?!?!?!?"
- Mom, paying FULL attention: "No not THAT kind. People that came here
- without a ..."
- Chris: "Passport?"
-
- Well, we're getting there ...
