I once knew a sucessful author of the Mills and Boon lovey-dovey pulp
fiction type books. She churned about about four books a year and made
reasonable money at it. She wrote about 6-8 hours a day. So it was  a
full time job and she made a little bit more money than I do on average.
She only got paid once every three months and if sales had been slow
her budget was rather tight for the next three months. It was a living
but rich she was not.
