  12. I'm planning on getting a monitored security system installed. I have spoken
  13. to reps from Honeywell and ADT (two large companies).

  15. The price quote from Honeywell is around $2000. The owner BUYS the system. 
  16. If I move I lose it. I will have to buy another when I move to a new home. And 
  17. their monitoring fee is $24/month.

  19. With ADT I don't buy the system. It is like leasing. They install a base system
  20. for about $400 and the monitoring is $20/month. The equipment is owned by
  21. ADT. If I move I get a new system and the old one stays in the old home. They
  22. require a 3 year monitoring contract.

  24. Both seem to be reliable companies.

  26. What does the netland feel? Which is better? Any other companies? Good/bad
  27. experiences?

  29. Or is it possible for me to buy a good system and install it myself and the
  30. monitoring done by some agency. I have good skills in electronis.
