- I've noticed that many light fixtures (not necessarily recessed, but
- ones that are close to the ceiling and take a sum total of about 100W
- of bulbs) sold nowadays come with a warning stating that "homes built
- before 1985 have wiring rated at 60 degrees (C)" and these fixtures
- require wiring rated at 75 or 90 degrees.
-
- My twenty-five year old wiring (Romex-like with plastic or cloth outer
- insulation) does not state any temperature rating. Does anyone know
- what type of wiring this warning applies to and what needs to be done
- to use such light fixtures (in pre-1985 homes)?
-
- Thanks,
-
