The responses you have received are really wonderful, for truely a child does need both to attack those harder unknown words. Phonics workbooks, however, are not really an answer...though for a parent they are easy to get ahold of and use. I sure hope that this isn't about Hooked On Phonics, because I think that program is more hype than help. Soozi
