- Peter, your message:
- PM>Why tell all this? Well, we're first, down here in the south, but the
- PM>way the ozone layer is going, people in the rest of the world need to
- PM>wake up quickly as well. I've had close to half a century of exposure,
- PM>and I am a medium risk. I could have been a low risk, if we had
- PM>realised sooner what we were doing to ourselves.
-
- PM>Melanoma is the real worry, because that metastatises, says my quack: it
- PM>goes on little colonising expeditions, all over the body. The other
- PM>skin cancers can be knocked off if they are caught in time. Australia
- PM>now, New Zealand too, probably, but how about all you Aspen snow
- PM>bunnies? Did you stop to think what risks you are taking?
-
- sure rang a bell with me.
- I was in Melbourne recently, and saw a public display prepared
- by the Health Dept, showing photos of various skin cancers.
- One particular malignant one gave me a shock, it looked just
- like an annoying blob that I've had on my back for a couple
- of months now, and it wouldn't go away. I rushed off to my
- local skin specialist on my return home. He inspected it and told
- me to stop picking at it!
- Still, it's better to be safe and check these things out.
