  19. Actually, GNUS2 biggest efficiency wins are in sorting and threading
  20. (if I may plug my own software, here.) Header retrieval is much faster
  21. if you have nov or an XOVER'ing nntpd. But even with gnus3.14, the
  22. time spent getting headers is dwarfed by comparison with the time
  23. spent threading and sorting.

  25. GNUS2 can retrieve, sort and thread approx 500 articles in 47 seconds
  26. (on a sun 3/60). The same process with Gnus3.14 takes close to 7
  27. minutes (both using NOV spool access to get the articles). I believe
  28. the threading is better also. GNUS2 doesn't orphan articles whose
  29. parents have expired, for example.
