  15. I write in French, using ISO 8859-1 alphabet.  The only way I know to
  16. insert accented characters in emacs is with quoted-insert (e.g. C-q
  17. 351 for e with acute accent).  I have to agree with Joe that the
  18. current behavior of quoted-insert in overwrite-mode is a bug, or
  19. misfeature if you like.  The important is that is should be changed
  20. for the sake of consistency and usefulness.
