  13. The metrics for the builtin LJ3/4 fonts that I distributed recently were in
  14. error.  If you are interested in using the metrics, please retreive
  15. ibis.cs.umass.edu:/pub/norm/hptfm2pl/HPLJ3/fix*.zip.

  17. I failed to notice that HP distributed two versions of the font metrics for
  18. the fixed sized fonts (Courier and Line Printer): version 1.0.1. and version
  19. 1.2.0.  Because of the way I built the metrics, some of the PL files come from
  20. the 1.0.1 metrics and some come from the 1.2.0. metrics.  The 1.0.1 metrics do
  21. not conform to the HP TFM specification (as I understand it) and the result is
  22. that some metrics have depth=0 for all of the characters.

  24. The new metrics correct this problem.  I am distributing both versions of
  25. the PL files (although I can think of no reason why you would want the
  26. old metrics).  The names of the metric files are:

  33. Where 0   = this file comes from the 1.0.1 metrics
  34.       ttt = typeface
  35.       SSS = symbol set
  36.       nn  = design size (truncated to integer)

  41. P.S. NB: only the fix-pl.zip and fix-tfm.zip files have changed.  You do
  42. not need to retreive all of the files in HPLJ3/* if you have already have
  43. the metrics for the scalable fonts.
