-
- Yes, and No. While FrameMaker itself does not support rotating text
- at any angle other than 0, 90, 180, and 270, FrameMaker does support
- Postscript inclusion code in text frames. Postscript has the inherent
- ability to rotate text at any angle. Anyone who has ever seen any of
- my work would immediately notice the word "Draft" that is *behind* a
- transparent text frame on the first page of any document I
- produce, rotated at a 90 degree angle with 80% fill.
-
- While some think this is an "undocumented feature," there is
- documentation. A file called SpecEff.doc in $FMHOME/docs describes how
- to do this in enough detail that anyone should be able to incorporate
- rotated text quickly and easily in any document. Ingenious postscript
- programmers should be able to go beyond this minimalistic support for
- rotated text and write their own postscript code to include virtually
- *any* standard postscript design in a text frame.
-
- Because this is not an optimal solution, and because it does not work
- well at all with tables, it is hoped that Frame will modify the Maker
- application to support rotation angles of text as a standard for the
- next generic release--4.0, due sometime soon.
