- The original IBM PC had single sided double density 16 sectors
- (160K) drives! And they were optional, it was possible to use cassettes
- with it, too.

- DOS. That is probably why you can still format single sided

- TI was working on DD controller, 9995 system (the 99/2 and 99/8)
- and more. But you are right, they did not want to give users
- more than the minimun (cf. DM-2 vs. DISKU !)
