- I have a SUN3/260 (4.1) with two Fujitsu disk drives. Recently during
- level 0 backups I noticed the system reporting the following errors
- on the console:
- xy1g:read restore (disk sequencer error) ...
- xy1c:read restore (header not found) ...
-
- Suspecting a disk problem I ran sundiag(nostics) which reported the
- following:
- 010.09.999.9085 01/09/93 14:50:43 rxy1c rawtest ERROR: Big read failed on disk, block 1891: I/O error.
- 999.00.200.7012 01/09/93 14:50:47 tesla sundiag INFO: *Failed test*
- (xy1) rawtest passes: 0 errors: 1
-
- fsck reports no problems (other that about 2% fragmentation) on the
- drives.
-
- Questions:
- 1. What are the possibilities it is a disk drive as oppossed to the
- disk controller?
-
- 2. The drive is 5 years old and in constant use. Could this problem
- possibly be resolved by a re-format (ie-could the alignment be drifting).
-
- 3. Any suggestions on how to further isolate the problem would be greatly
- appreciated!
-
- Thanks,
- //Kevin
